Illustration Description
Pauly makes good use of his three arms to play two oboes at one time. He feels his sister has totally wasted her four arms by concentrating on voice. Although isolated from other children by their birth anomalies, they never grew close or agreed on anything. Only hard times have kept them together. Pauly renders a toe-tapping klezmer medley, while Paula belts out "Ten Cents a Dance." A stray dog arrives, joins in, and creates a strange musical cohesion. They decide to adopt him. They name him "Gershwin."
