Coming from Kenosha after a suspension and a breakdown, special agent Gaius McHandsome (Rollman) arrives in Madison when a bum is killed in an average crime. McHandsome is in charge of the investigation and the chief of the agency calls for backup, arriving agent Styles O'Funny (Murray), who had a past with McHandsome doing Second City sketches. The leads guide them to Linus Cholmsford (Hodgman), a hobo that claims to be a former literary agent, and considered a random fact machine. McHandsome becomes obsessed trying to find the humor.
